BIC - I am surprised - but did you really start with zero?

Eds. -Yes, absolutely.  I started with zero.  The way I started this - my partner was not involved at that stage -  was that I had a vision long before the arrival of the dot coms and long before the Internet became available to the masses. 

I knew friends who knew computer programmers.  I told them that I wanted to put up a few web pages for educational purposes.  As they were friends, and as I had done things for them, they agreed to put up my pages on their server.  I accordingly started with a begged and borrowed web site. 

BIC - Was it hard to Start?

Eds. - It was very hard because I had a zero budget.  Also, as the pages were on the friend's server, I had very little control to update the pages as and when I wanted to.  

Furthermore, the programmers could not really spend a lot of time polishing up the pages as I would have liked to see them.  I can't blame them at all because they were doing it free of charge.

BIC - How did you overcome those issues?

Eds. - I started learning how to create web pages.  I had zero technical knowledge. The software was very unfriendly in those days compared to what it is today. 

Nowadays, even a 10 year old can design a page in 2 minutes flat.  Also, computers and Internet connections  are now common place.  In other words, anyone with a computer and an internet connection can start their own business. They can work from home.  It is now extremely easy compared to the early days.

BIC - When did you first realize that the Internet was a vital tool that would help the masses?

Eds. - From day one.  I stopped doing everything I was doing before and I concentrated on the Internet.  This was when I was making zero profits.  However, I knew that the Internet was the future.

BIC - So how did you start making money on the Internet?

Eds. - In the early days, there were zero profits.  I was providing free educational services.  However, as the service proved very popular, it involved more costs to run the site. 

It became apparent that some sort of income was essential to sustain the free services even if I was not profit motivated.  

BIC - So what did you do?

Eds. - I started researching the Internet for income opportunities.  I went on many courses and I covered 100s of books.  

After trying all the skills and techniques covered in the courses, seminars and books, and after a long time, it dawned on me that the BIG merchants and the BIG marketers were creaming off 99% of the profit even though we did all the hard work.

In other words, they were using dirty tricks.  We then created our own system through hard work and research.  We tested the system extensively.  It worked like magic.  

From then on, it was relatively easy.

BIC - What difference did the system make?

Eds. - When I started, there were times I put in 19 hours a day to learn and to follow what the big merchants and big marketers pushed down at us.  

Since developing our own systems, we started achieving far better results by 100s of percent - and all achieved by putting in 1 hour of work instead of 19 hours a day.

Once the systems were tested, it was fairly easy to duplicate our success and we started building our Internet empire.

BIC - What would you say to total beginners who wish to start a business from home?

Eds. - There are 2 ways to do it.  The hard way or the easy way. The hard way is to try and figure out everything by yourself putting in 19 hours a day.  The easy way is to learn from people who have been there and done that.

There are many "experts" and "gurus" on the Internet.  As we discovered at our great financial loss, you can't trust BIG merchants and BIG marketers to put money in your pocket.  You can go and spend $1000s and $1000s on courses, seminars and 100s of books.  At the end of it, the real test is whether you come away with a profitable online business.

We were forced to develop our systems because BIG merchants and BIG marketers failed to deliver what they promised.  In fact, we found out they were using nasty and dirty tactics to ensure that they kept 99% of the profits.
